Aloe rooikappie (Little Red Riding Hood)

Susan Kent, January 2013

When you see a photo of the inflorescence, you'll understand the name! The orange-red flowers at the tip of the flower stem are massed together in the shape of a hood This 1' diameter landscape aloe blooms just about whenever and as often as it wishes. (Flower habit similar to Aloe sinkatana.)  Placing several of these plants throughout a bed of perennials would be joyful. Propagation is from tissue culture and off shoots. Hardy to between 20 and5 degrees F. Some shade from the summer Mojave sun. (South Africa)
