Faucaria tigrina (Tiger's Jaw)

Susan Kent, February 2013

All of the Faucaria (meaning narrow throat?) have yellow or white flowers. Tigrina's are yellow. If it is not in your plant collection yet, get it there. You will be delighted with winter flowering. It's a strong performer and multiplies nicely and will fill a container beautifully if in good draining soil. It does however get a bit of a woody stem. The offsets can be removed, rooted and another generation begins. It will live all year in Vegas on a portected patio where the temperature will remain at or just above freezing. What looks like green white teeth on the green margins of the triangular shaped leaves are really pretty soft.  This is a Tiger one need not fear to replant. (South Africa-East Cape)
