      A nice Vegas area day trip. It's not just about growing dates! Take your camera for some out of this world photo ops, and if you are up to it, an easy hike through a small slot canyon. Remember, "easy" is a relative term. Don't hike alone.

      If a sister CA club has a sale or show there, try to go then! A well thought through 2 or 3 day California excursion hopping from garden to nursery to restaurant could be loads of fun. Get GOOGLING!
    • Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden - Arcadia
      Bundle this with a plant show and sale or treat yourself to a weekend birthday gift (even if it isn't)! You'll be rejuvenated.
    • The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens - San Marino
      If you live in this geographic area you need to visit the Huntington at least once in your life. Some of us visit much more frequently!

    • Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge
      An easy Vegas area trip.
    • Clark County Parks
      Recreation might be in your own back yard. Check out some of the county parks and let club members know what you've seen. These are COUNTY parks.
    • Nevada State Parks
      Don't overlook the great Nevada State Parks. Wonderful opportunities abound for day trips or make a whole summer of it! Build a circuit, pile the duffle in the car and take off!
    • Get Outdoors Nevada
      Volunteers needed for just about every public parks kind of event: BLM, US Fish & Game, National Parks, US Forest Service. Teach, take pictures, build, clean up, plant seedlings, gather seeds, be a docent, help park cars, bring water!
